I have almost zero interest in seeing “He’s Just Not That Into You,” except for the fact that I really kind of love Jennifer Aniston and I really am kind of obsessing over Ginnifer Goodwin’s hair in the movie.

I’m in a serious hair rut right now, having had long layers for, oh, the last six years (six years!!!) and bangs for four of those years (four years of bangs!!!). And for some reason I think the solution is chopping off all my hair and starting over.

Of course, I highly doubt I can pull off a wavy bob, as my hair isn’t nearly wavy enough to actually wave at that length, so I think it would just be poofy bob, on my head.

Plus, there are those pesky bangs and I think bangs + bob would = chipmunk cheeks. And as much as I love Alvin & Co., they are not my style icons.

I want this. A lot. But in a Mac version.

Yeah, I know, I can get basically the same thing from an iPhone or an iPod touch or one of them fancy phones with the keyboards and stuff. But there’s something so gorgeous about the proportions of this. It’s creating some serious technology envy.

Can I just express what bullshit it is that the smallest Mac laptop still has a 13-inch screen? My 4-year old iBook has a 12-inch screen and it’s heavy! And let’s not talk about my old 17-incher. SEVENTEEN INCHES!

So ridiculous, someone blogged about how big it looked on Dr. Cuddy’s desk.

But until that happens, there’s something you all should know:

Although the walk up the stairs to my third-floor office is short and would be an excellent form of exercise, I take the elevator.

I want to make it perfectly clear: It’s not because I’m lazy. It’s because I’m vain and it is mirrored.

Also, these shoes are pinching my toes.

But, DAMN, they look amazing with this outfit.

I mean, other people might watch it, but they don’t talk about it the way they talk about, say, “Gossip Girl,” which comes on at the same time. But I don’t watch “Chuck” at 8 p.m. on Mondays when it airs, because I’m usually watching “The Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother” on CBS. I usually catch “Chuck” on Tuesday nights on hulu.com. Things will get more complicated when Fox moves “House” to Monday nights. Thank Dolly for Tivo.

Anyway, last night I was watching “Chuck” and came to the conclusion that it’s probably one of the most consistently entertaining shows on television. It might not be innovative like “30 Rock” or as allegorical as “Mad Men.” It’s not the flashy star in my television lineup, but the consistently solid player that never fails to deliver. If my television lineup is the Atlanta Hawks, “Chuck” isn’t sometimes-spectacular and sometimes-spectacularly-awful Josh Smith (J-SMOOOVE), but the always-consistent Marvin Williams (old duck butt) who posted a double-double in the last game I watched.

The Christmas episode of “Chuck” was an example of why it’s such an entertaining show. There were hilarious moments, thrilling moments, sly jokes, action sequences and visual gags. And the episode pushed forward the story arc that the writers have been building all season.

But you know what other show is good that you’re probably not watching? “Samantha Who?” Christina Applegate is charming as hell and the supporting cast–Melissa McCarthy, Jennifer Esposito, Barry Watson and Jean Smart–is hilarious. Monday nights at 9:30, yo.

Now, this might seem like a weird post to write when these shows are halfway through their seasons and are on holiday hiatus, but what better time than the holidays to get caught up with Season 1 DVDs and back episodes online? None, say I.

The third show you’re (probably) not watching isn’t on TV yet. And the last episode aired in 2007. But it is freaking BRILLIANT, as I discovered one Saturday when FX ran a marathon of “Damages.”

I can’t even begin to describe the plot, so I’m not going to try. I recommend you hie thee to Netflix and have the 13-episode first season sent to you, posthaste. Glenn Close is fabulous, as is Ted Dansen. Željko Ivanek’s Emmy award was much-deserved. You know how good “Damages” is? William Hurt and Marcia Gay Harden are joining the cast for Season 2.

Season 2 premiers on Jan. 7 on FX. Seriously, watch Season 1.

But apparently the reporters who filled my issue of “Bon Appetit” with delicious recipe ideas weren’t so excited about the task. (Trust me, as a reporter myself, I empathize).

Well, whatever. I, personally, enjoy reinventing the classics and am lucky enough to come from a small, maverick-y family, so we rarely roast turkey on Thanksgiving. Which makes adapting the entire menu a whole lot easier. The only two things we insist upon (we being me and my brother) are butternut squash in some form and Pillsbury crescent rolls.

This year it was just me and my mom, which meant we could go WAY outside the box. Instead of a turkey, we roasted a chicken, Zuni-style. We didn’t have pie. We had pumpkin cake. (I think it’s this recipe, but we just ate the cake part with cool whip). And butternut squash found its way into our meal, not mashed with brown sugar and butter (although, OMG YUM), but as rich, creamy risotto.

We didn’t really have any traditional Thanksgiving goodies (although we did bake some sweet potatoes, because that’s what I found at the farmer’s market), but it felt rich and autumnal. It was also a great day that I spent doing one of my favorite things with one of my favorite people. And isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about, anyway?

My bangs

It’s true. I am generally the coolest girl in any room. And I do hate Vice and Cobrasnake.

Now, to cleanse our palatte, a post about one of the most sacred institutions in this great land.

That’s right. I’m talkin’ ’bout the glossy lip balm.

Ah, the glossy lip balm. Sometimes they are also tinted, often flavored. But these are the workhorses of any good girl’s makeup bag.

They have been a staple of mine since, oh, I’d say 1994, when I, along with pretty much every other sixth grader at Grand Blanc Middle School became obsessed with this specific kind, whose name I cannot remember, but look back upon with great fondness.

I had two flavors, peppermint and watermelon. Peppermint had red and white lip balm swirled together and watermelon was pink and green. They were shaped like bullets (real bullets, not lipstick bullets) and they were AMAZING.

There have been other wonderful lip balms in my arsenal in the interceding years. I remember one in a long, black stick that tasted like delicious tutti fruitti candy. And, let’s face it, there are some pretty awesome ones on the market right now. C.O. Bigelow’s Mentha lip shines, Neutrogena lip tints and MAC’s tendertones are all solid players in my makeup bag.

But there are days when I want to reach into my pocket and pull out that swirlly bullet and bask in the candycane goodness of glossy red lips. A marathon game of Sardines isn’t out of the question, either.
